The Faxi waterfall is known by a few names, Faxa, Faxafoss, and Vatnsleysufoss. Tucked away in farmlands, Faxi spans 300 ft (91 m) with a height of 23 ft (7 m) across the Tungufljót river. This waterfall is located in the “Golden Circle” upper region near Gullfoss and Geysir.
Klifbrekkufossar is a series of several cascading falls in the Mjóifjörður fjord. Klifbrekkufossar is one of Iceland’s tallest major waterfalls at 300 ft (91 m) but doesn’t often receive that recognition due to the segmented drops. The name means Klifbrekkufossar, “Climbing Slope Falls,” as the waterfall is shaped like a set of stairs climbing up the cliffside. Fossar is the plural word for waterfalls, but Klifbrekkufossar is considered a single waterfall.
Tröllafoss, or Troll Waterfall, is a beautiful hidden waterfall in the Capital Region on the Leirvogsá river.
Litlanesfoss is the smaller sister to Hengifoss. The waterfall is surrounded by iconic basalt columns, similar to Svartifoss and Aldeyarfoss.
Foss á Síðu is a commonly seen waterfall that is frequently passed. This waterfall is located in the Southern Region and is viewable from the Ring Road (Route 1). Foss á Síðu is not a mighty waterfall, but its slender cascade against the dark cliffside and vivid greenery makes it truly beautiful. Many would be surprised to learn that Foss á Síðu is Iceland’s 14th tallest waterfall.
In the municipality of Mosfellsbær, you can find the small waterfall Tungufoss. The waterfall is roughly 13 ft and is the lower part of the Köldukvísl river.
